Steel above ground pools have been around for decades. They are the original type of above ground pool component material. Things haven't changed a whole lot for steel pools except the metals being used have gotten better and with much better protective coatings. Steel component above ground pools are very strong above ground pools and were for decades considered some of the best above ground pools on the market.
Many of these above ground pools use a combination of different metals for various components. Generally the component substitution is done on a combination of the top and bottom plates along with the bottom and top inner stabilizer rails. The steel used is generally a heavy coated zinc metal, aluminum or galvanized metal material. The substitution of metals on the above ground pools do not in any way take away from their strength and longevity of life. When changes are made they almost always make the pools themselves stronger. Take the
Monticello with it's massive 9" steel top rail and over-sized 8" vertical uprights. The one consistent comment we hear back from customers is that they've received a lot beefier, stronger pool than what they had ever anticipated.
