3M Scotchcast Potting Kit 2135 is designed to meet NEC requirements to allow the
use of rigid, non-metallic conduit in the installation of wet-niche underwater lighting
fixtures. The 2135 potting kit helps provide protection against corrosion and possible
deteriorating effects of fresh swimming pool water, fountain water and sunlight by
reliably encapsulating the 8 AWG ground connection in wet-niche shell, as required by
NEC Article 680.23(13)(L2)(b). The 2135 potting kit has also been UL listed for use in
underwater junction boxes [NEC 680.522(B)].
The 2135 compound is a Thixotropic urethane resin provided in an easy mix 1.8 oz. closed mixing pouch. At temperatures above 40°F (18°C) the compound will firm up in minutes. It is designed not drip or sag. Encapsulated connections can be submersed within 4 hours of application.
